I will see how I can help you out just need to know the exact cpu and motherboard :)

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  It's the MSI X58 Pro (MS 7522) motherboard, looking at getting a Intel Xeon X5650 SLBV3 2.66GHz processor.

Reading through trodas's old emails and found he was able to get it working on that exact setup without any issues it just appears in the bios as a es and no model. Looking online and found many more people saying the board and cpu work great together but many bios options for the cpu get grayed out.

If the cpu is really cheap it's worth a shot for sure.

I'll pm msi and see if I can get you one of their tester bios updates as well. Normally msi does multiple bios updates after Eol but never posts them to the site.

Thanks a lot, that would be great, much appreciated.

The CPU is relatively cheap, but I have to import it (not available in South-Africa).  I'm running a 920 atm, would like to get another year out of the board to see what Intel gets up to in 2018, not impressed at all with Z270 and Kaby Lake.  The Xeon could buy that for me, but it will cost me about 25% of a new i5 7600K, so not dirt cheap and with a bit of risk attached.

Thanks for the replies and effort with MSI!
