What's your smart phone?
« on: January 12, 2015, 08:59:09 AM »
Would love to know what smart devices everyone is using and what you love or hate about them.

Myself: Note 3
Love: huge screen, great phablet and pretty fast.
hate: battery life. Lack of water proofing like the z3.

Still sporting an iphone 4 that I got almost 3 years ago when they finally hit $0 on contract.

Love: - the size (I am not looking forward to finding a replacement, as most have larger and less pocket friendly screens).
          - ease of use

Hate: - screen clarity is not up to today's standards
          - camera is pretty marginal as soon as lighting is reduced

Love & Hate: its apple. It runs great and hasn't given me any issues, whereas my previous android devices gave me some trouble. I hate paying a premium for apple.

HTC One M8 in rose gold.

Pros - Just about everything. MicroSD support was the best decision by HTC ever. Battery life is great with a custom ROM.

Cons - Camera is just meh. The M9 will hopefully end HTC's lackluster camera streak.

Note 2

Pros: large screen good for media, SD card slot, removable battery, good ROM support.

Con's: battery life sucks, ugly as sin, its Samsung.

Q10!

Pros: KEYBOARD KEYBOARD KEYBOARD!!! ,  OS (I'm in love with their Hub as for apps, they have Google Maps, that's all what I need and I live the swipe features).

Cons: Sometimes I need apps that aren't available, the pebble app today for example :/ Size, I want BIGGER and thus the passport soon

Note 2

Love: Big screen for web browsing, my battery life is quite good, but not playing games on this phone. I get a full day out of mine no problem. Seems to do things very well for what I want it to do. Email, Web browsing, looking at maps, banking, reading and working on PDF documents. I really like this phone. I'm not playing around with ROMs on this phone this time. I need to make sure its solid for work and it has been.

Hate: My book case I use makes it massive. Pictures are ok, didn't seem much better then my note 1.

I worked as tech support for Bell Mobility for four years, so i had all the platforms on hand : windows mobile, blackberry, iphone and android. My first smartphone : Palm Treo 700WX with windows mobile. Touch screen with stylus, great battery life ( one week in idle) not able to install apps. BLACKBERRY 9700 : great for communication great keyboard not so good with entertainement great sound output. Iphone 3GS : amazing with multimedia stuff, cumbersome to use the keyboard by people with big fingers, amazing sound output. Now i use a galaxy s 3 the t999 : gorgeous screen, amazing sound output. Nexus 4 : booring, ordinary screen, deceiving audio output, yes i listen to a lot of music, online  or on device.

Some vtech dect 6.0 thing from radio shack.
It has all these fancy features like call history and some address book thing I do not use.
It even has a clock and is jam packed with stuff!

Pros:
Faster to dial than a rotary!
Smarty pants features mentioned initially.
Buttons light up!

Cons:
Unlike a rotary or regular touchtone, does not work when the power is out.
Battery only lasts 3-5 days between charges depending on use.
$20 batteries every few years once they finally die, unlike rotary&touch tone.
Speakerphone mode not very loud or clear.
Gloss black face annoying to keep in good shape.

Other notes:
Reviewed model does not have an answering machine built in, but this reviewer prefers a microcassette machine anyway.

All good :)

Think I will get a new note when the next one comes out. My note 3 has been great to me.

if you were going to get a new phone today what would it be?

I would probably go with either the note 4 or nexus 6. Note 4 would be my first pick because I like that they still have the sd card slot but I could live without it if needed. Just a nice feature for me.

I picked up a S6 for the wife when it came out. It's a nice phone for sure but the screen is too small for me.  I would of got a new phone but she broke her S4 :(

Note 2 still going strong for me!
