I did get 2 working sorry they were built and bought within an hour of eachother. The cheap adapters on ebay (literally tape and some copper holes) worked like a charm

Got 2 cheap dell towers to run quadcores.

If you want to try yourself pick up the tape online
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-CPU-Socket-LGA-771-to-775-Adapter-Mod-Sticker-Replace-Core2-w-Xeon-Quad-/281299033344?pt=CPUs&hash=item417eba9d00

anything like that will work and again I have lots of spare CPU's so you buy a multipack of tape I send you a few cpus :)

That's awesome! Good to put some of the 771 CPU's to use.

I'm in the process of getting rid of all my C2D systems, they just suck up to much power. Going to try and build a BayTrail J1900 machine for my HTPC/File Server

So I have some Xeon 771 Cpu's kicking around all quad cores all bored out of their minds.
I also have a massive amount of 775 motherboards(Dell/HP/Acer) you know the throw away ones but they all are DDR3 and some even are itx.

So I'm going to order the small conversion stickers and start this project I will record the whole build and testing and if its goes up in smoke no big deal they were not being used anyways:)

So over the next bit I will have some fun with this mini project and if they do work I will water cool them and make some custom rigs

Did you ever get this working?

Beer and Wine / Scotch?
« on: April 04, 2014, 09:07:11 AM »
Who like Scotch?

A buddy of mine got me hooked on it....on Wednesday we tasted Tomatin 18, Bruichladdich Scottish Barley & Port Charlotte and Glenlivit 12 along with a fine selection of Cuban cigars!

Rum and vodka are my favs.

Really wish I like scotch though...folks who like it really love and savour it. I have tried 'good' scotches and they all seem to be the same to me.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good scotch for someone who wishes to develop a taste for it? I remember that I did not like my first several Guinnesses but it is by far my fav beer now. A taste can be developed (and I am going to be in Scotland next year lol)

I've been told (by a Scotch/Whiskey freak) that 'Dalmore 12' is great one to try for n00bs. I will be picking up a bottle of it this weekend:

Custom / Re: BTX Custom cases

Your all crazy haha I mean real BTX motherboards not BTX form factor :P as in the board is upside down the other way DOES NOT FIT IN ANY ATX CASE!!

Yup, good luck finding one of those real BTX cases. I found ONE , on ebay for $50....

I'd just find a way to hack up an uber cheat ATX case and make it work(ish)

Your best option would be to hack the shit out of an ATX case...

Everything Off Topic / Re: Pitbulls
« on: November 25, 2013, 09:36:24 AM »
My main issue with Pitbulls is not the dog, it's the owners. You get these douchebags who want pitbulls because they can trained into aggression and they really can look like big mean dogs.

My sister-in-law was at a party and was petting the owners pitbull, who at the time seemed like a sweet dog. Seconds later she was bit in the face and the dog just went ballistic. Stitches and plastic surgery needed.... The dog was put down and owners were charged with animal cruelty. It was obvious to the police that the owners were locking the dog up and abusing it.

Because of that incident, both my wife and sister-in-law will not go anywhere near a Pitbull. Sad.

Awesome, I love that kind of stuff. I remember doing the pin mods on my Athlon XPs!

Exactly but they wait one of the macbooks has a melted cable under neath it that I am trying to find a donor to solder a new one in where the other is just a mess, saturday I am taking all known good parts from both and trying to save at least 1 cuz 1 is better then none:) then back to my own projects after I clean all the sticky wine from the laptops off my desk haha

LOL, that would be awesome if you could get one fully working. I figure I can still use the 2nd one as a HTPC since I won't need the actual screen part to work as it will stuffed in a cabinet.

For domestics, 40 Creek is my go-to Whisky. Best part is I know the owner personally through a family friend. It is hands down the best Canadian whisky in my humble opinion.

Awesome! Please pass on my review of it, it is by far the best Rye (or 'Candian Whiskey') I have found in my local booze stores. All my friends who have tasted it have loved it. Having said that, I need to go buy a bottle!
