Buddy of mine Jimmy from the FSF has had a loaner rig for years now made from the broken dreams of all our local friend's systems.

I ended up needing my HD 290X back for an upcoming video so told him its time to upgrade.

So that's what we did.

Ryzen R5 1600x
8GB DDR4 2400 Gskill Ripjaws
MSI GTX 1070 Armor 8GB
Asus Prime X370-PRO
Coolermaster MSI Modmaster Case
Hydro Series H60

Used from old rig
OCZ 1000 Watt PSU
2TB Seagate SSHD
275GB Crucial MX300 SSD

Rig turned out not half bad and for once Jimmy has one of the nicest rigs of the whole gaming group so good on him.

Ryzen is a lot of fun and simple to build with, reminds me of building with almost all AMD as the Corsair cooler mounts to the stock AMD socket mounts.

Everything Hardware / Re: Ryzen pushing Intel...quad core i3
« on: August 08, 2017, 07:41:29 PM »
Great post thanks for sharing.

I fully agree even rumors of 6 core for i5s are on the market to.

Intel played the greed game while they had no competition now things are changing and they are rushing to correct the course.

I will be doing my own full swap to Amd for the first time in a damn long time hope it is enjoyable:)

I'm both on-call and dog sitting. Final Fantasy, Netflix, and reasonable amounts of beers. Not terribly exciting.

Still does not sound bad.
I got
last of us
Diablo 3
Little big planet
Plants vs zombies garden warfare
And 5 more games today

Mags needs some good games when the baby is napping

Tons of family over and then.... RYZEN BUILD TIME!!!.
Should I build my rig into a test bench or into a case?

What's everyone else up to?

Real Hardware Reviews / Galaxy A5 (2017) the best mid-range phone
« on: July 31, 2017, 12:19:49 PM »
Looking for a new phone make sure to check out Davide and Johns(Soullessone21's) newest review

"It seems every day now a new phone is released and with that many times value phones are forgotten even on launch day. This could not be more true than with the Galaxy A5 2017 from Samsung. This Value class phone packs some great features and is available throughout Canada and the USA at $0 with a contract unlike the more expensive Galaxy S series."

Galaxy A5 2017 Review

Wait a minute your case is a element g is it not.

You do not simply use sleds with the element g but you use custom screws of which I may have some. I shall hunt for you later

what about some metal wood or plastic ? making a mount for each layer that you bolt the hdds into from the bottom and use say wood screws to hold them in on the sides?

Real Hardware Reviews / The Impact of Mixing RAM Speeds
« on: July 28, 2017, 09:05:08 AM »
On the Bench today GaK_45 takes a look at the impact of mixing ram speeds

So is mixing and matching DDR4 RAM a ‘good idea’? Well that depends on how you define ‘good’. Is it an optimal solution? No. Will it work… probably yes. Will it be a simple endeavor, one that is as easy as using four paired sticks of RAM? No. It’s not impossible but you will have to be proactive and take steps to ensure that they work

I have a used unknown model Thermaltake case that I am hoping to transition to be my new home server case as the current case I am using, the Shinobi XL, will be re-purposed as my gaming case once again when my EATX motherboard arrives from the Intel RE Deal.

The problem with the Thermaltake case is that there are no hard drive sleds left in it, I found it 'dumpster diving' aka university students moving out and had the case near the apartment garbage. The hard drive bays themselves are still there, but as they are larger than just a standard 3.5 " Hard Drive, I can't just put them in there. I was hoping someone may have some retail or DIY solutions they could share so I don't have to go out and either buy another EATX case or an ATX case that has 6+ 3.5 " HDD bays.

can you post some photos of the case here so we can see what we can find to help :)
