Title: RHR RMA Assistance Rules
Post by: Soullessone21 on June 08, 2014, 09:01:17 AM
Welcome to RHR Ultimate RMA Sticky:

Ever have hardware fail and it feels like the world has ended and no one wants to help you? Well Soullessone21 and the RHR Staff are the pros when it comes to RMAing gear but like anything awesome there are rules.

1) Many sites make you have 10-25 posts to post in the buy sell, here we require you to be a contributing member of the forum that means 25 posts or at least worth while contributions to current members (5 Karma points, these are modded "fake thank you's" will be removed)

2) Full clarity that you cannot demand upgrades, we will assist with the RMA not pull a Titan black out of a broken 9800x2, but if the vendor offers we will of course not refuse to get you a snazzy upgrade.

3) Honesty is the best policy this is a two fold rule,
1. Be honest about what happened water, folding/coining, post nuclear fallout and the ghouls drooled on it
2. You will be honest if you intend to sell it right away or if you need it for a kick awesome gaming time, Honesty with this helps us determine how to assist you and if your an emergency basis or just wanting to make another sale.

4) RMA's will be public meaning we will quote and update your rma within the thread to show either "Awesome Success" or "Epic Failure".

Serial number or Service tag:

Many people contact us from other sites and just to help things along we will include the first few from some other sites, but that service is no longer offered to non members.

Glad to heard you are still doing this amazing favor to those who need it. Hopefully I will never have to bother you for assistance, but I am glad to know the offer is open if I do have issues. Things like this are what really make a site great (a personal touch).

I am pleased that you are continuing to use your position as an industry insider to help the little people (like me) out! I greatly appreciate it and I know others do too. Keep up the great work and thank you for getting my ASUS RMA issue corrected (ASUS sent me a bad replacement 7950 and John helped me deal with ASUS to get it sorted out).

MSI GTX 680 2gb Ref model
N680GTX-PM2D2GD5
S/N 912-V801-1235B1203012365

RMA # - RR14019482

Card is not posting anymore. Fan ramps up to 100% speed and never changes.
It was intended to be watercooled, but before that happened a couple of jerkoffs broke into my place and cleaned me out pretty good. I managed to get some of my stuff back (the idiots tried selling my gear on a local site) but it had come back non functional.

I have been issued an RMA # with MSI, but alas many of the stock screws were missing (bout 3 on the card itself, and 4 or 5 on the cooler as I never got the bag of screws back or the waterblock back)

System Specs -

i3 2130
6gb DDR3 1333
320gb WD blue
Original owner
Receipt I suspect the dog probably ate with the box.
GTX 680 2gb

I would like to sell this card after RMA or trade it straight up for a 290 or 290x model that has been used for mining providing warranty will still be intact (im well aware of what Im getting into)

I dunno what kind of witchcraft Soul pulled off on this one, but whatever it was HOLY HELL he delivers.

Sent out on June 27th - Got the card back today. Brand new one. The card had the living hell kicked out of it (due to assholes who like to take things from peoples houses).

The best part - Aside from the Geforce GTX logo on the side , there are zero markers of what this card is. Sooooooooooooo much quicker and quieter than my MSI twinfrozr ii 470.

Thanks again soul.

PS - Ill make it a point to pick up DayZ this week.

Shiver evga board denied by evga damaged pins :(
Shiver corsair psu coil whine approved.

Now for Lpfan4evers cousins rma. Huge denied due to the fact he sent a bfg gpu to evga... This is a first for me and even evga said "we know this was not you but what retard sent a bfg gpu to us instead of the evga one they tried to rma"

Thanks kyle for having entertaining family.

That's a lot of failed items. What's the typical culprit on GPU? Or is it really card specific?

That's funny as I get that question a lot. Xfx is usually a very low cost card. They don't do this by using all the best hardware though many of their cards are good cards. On their 79xx they cut corners on vram and it tends to fail.

Msi and Asus cut corners on their selling point their new fans. The tf from Msi is junk as it likes to seize or wobble, wobble is very bad as the blades will snap and Msi will give you a nice $50 bill for fans. Asus has the same issue on their new high static pressure fans but unlike Msi they fully cover the cost.

Corsair well their psus are great but not meant for 24/7 haha.

Do you have any pull with SteelSeries? I have a loooong standing feud with them, which they refuse to resolve.

In a nutshell:
The SteelSeries APEX keyboard has a hardware flaw. There are certain colors that do not match on the keyboard. Meaning, if you set an orange (ff5e00) to all zones, you can easily see that the main KB part is yellow, not orange. This occurs with other colors (blue(0084ff), and a pink...probably more as well). I discovered this within days of getting my KB (in July 2013, yes 2013) - I started a ticket with them 118738 - some back and forth, they sent me a new one. Exact same problem.
Some more back and forth.. then on Dec 2, 2013 they admitted:
Quote
Geoff,

Unfortunately this IS a hardware/electrical issue that is present with just about all of the keyboards.

We are working to fix the issue but you are correct that running an RMA for the same keyboard would be a waste of time.

What I meant was we could give you a different keyboard/SteelSeries product if you wanted one.

Rick P
SteelSeries Support

*Note: They would give me another product ONLY if I paid to ship my KB back to them.. I shouldnt have to pay because they sold me a product that does NOT perform as advertised

Ticket 187015 - after more back and forth (and my refusal to PAY to ship this POS anywhere...) They claimed that SSEngine 3 would fix it!

so I wait....
SSE3 is release, updated, new Firmware... and viola! the problem is STILL there. Why? my guess is that it really is a hardware issue as was stated.

New ticket: 211931 (10/31/2014) - no response on it.

I have been blocked from their Facebook page as well (for pointing this problem out). I really feel scammed with this.. I know, most will say "who cares, its just color", but thats one of the biggest selling features of this keyboard! That is actually WHY I bought it! (at the time, there were VERY few choices for KB with this ability... now its odd if it cant do it lol) - So here I sit, with a KB that I hate, and a company that is refusing to deal with me. They admitted they are at fault, yet do not stand behind their product - and continue to sell them! I have been trying to win something else from them so I can sell it and get my money back... and put it towards a Corsair Gaming RGB.

all zones in this pic are set to the SAME color... orange.

If you cant do anything, I understand (I cant get anywhere either) - Thanks!!

I was referred here by one of you guys on the site. You know me as Alex or SkywhaleExpress in Wargaming's games.

Anyhow, on with the item/model info: Item and model number including brand:
Product: Asus Maximus VI Hero

Serial number:  DCM0AB438826

Product number: 90MB0FU0-M0AAY0

Issue: Electrical damage/unknown (capacitors don't appear to be blown. Motherboard Start and reset lights light up, but when pressing power, only the fans spin for a second then nothing.

Cause if known: you'll get a kick out of this... Yesterday, my wife wakes me up to tell me that my 2.5 yr. old son, Johnny, plugged the USB charge cord for her iPhone into one of the front panel USB ports... The other end, he put into the surge protector outlet. He heard a big popping sound and got scared as all hell.

Other system Specs: I run a Core i7 4770K, 16 GB of Corsair XMS3 1600 MHz RAM, an Asus GTX 650 TI Boost OC, and a Sound Blaster Z sound card.

Original owner or second or so on: original owner with original box.

Proof of purchase? I can probably dig it up, as I bought it online from either tigerdirect or newegg or Amazon.

If I could somehow get this RMA'd, it wod be a killer Christmas gift, because money is tight as we are expecting our second child, a daughter, in March.

MSI wants to know if you called in for it yet?

If not all good just need to know as they want to know if there is an existing ticket for said laptop.

We will get it covered for you :) it really is a sweet laptop wish I could find one like that and finally stop using business class laptops haha

Hey, no I haven't called it in to MSI. That's great if they will fix it.

Yeah I've been using my business class one too for quite awhile. It's great most of the time but try to get a game going isn't going to happen.  Mines pretty old but does the job.

Think i got a pretty good deal on this MSI so I got it. Couple guys at work have these and they love them.

Hey, know anyone at Patriot?

My Pyro 120GB ssd died (after barely a month of use) and I sent it in for RMA, they denied me because I removed the FRONT STICKER!??? its a sticker! They quoted their warranty "Patriot Memory's warranty does not cover the following conditions: Products that are missing the Patriot Memory label..." etc.. technically... it has the label on the back.. it says patriot, and it is a label? lol

let me know if you think you might be able to help. I mean... its a sticker (and it looks way better without it)

Unfortunately, cryptocurrency mining is not supported by VisionTek warranty services. VisionTek does not support or advertise the usage of our products for cryptocurrency mining. Cryptocurrency mining is considered a misuse of the product due to the overtaxing of the graphics cards life cycle. Please refer to our warranty information here for more information: https://www.visiontek.com/support/warranty-information.html

This ^ is what I got from Visiontek trying to rma an R9 280 3GB for dead hdmi and locking up / freezing screen on nicehash or Furmark and the odd game.

It's more of an info post than a help me, I've already conceded that I lost.
