    Quiet?

Hello everyone! I hopefully will be back working with RHR again soon. I switched back to computers and trying my own thing now... basically do what I like in computers. In the past I wrote some news articles and did a number of thumbnails for RHR website and YouTube. I hope to contribute more and be more diversified in my contribution.

  5. To be blunt, the LaCie 1Big Dock SSD Pro 4TB is not perfect but we still absolutely love this device. What it has to offer is a veritable siren song to us. It is fast, it is easy to work with, and above all else it is tailor made for satisfying (almost) all our needs. You may feel differently, as we are part of the laser like focus niche this specific model was designed for. Put simply, this model is designed by professionals for professionals and makes no compromises to appeal to a wider audience. You will either love what it has to offer and consider it an investment (as time is money)… or i

  7. If you are looking for replacement drives for your surveillance appliance/server the SkyHawk is basically the only one of two models you need look at. For everyone else, there are less… specialized models that probably will fit your needs better Check our review below. Read the Full Review
  8. As it stands the Seagate FireCuda Gaming Dock may come with a bit of sticker shock… but for what it offers it is actually a pretty good bargain. So while not perfect, and plenty of room for version 2.0 to improve upon, the FireCuda Gaming Dock is worth a long hard look. Check our review below. Read the Full Review
  9. If the LaCie 1Big Dock series features are precisely what you are looking for it is a fan-freaking-tastic choice - and is an excellent example of engineering prowess. Alternatively, if the 1Big Dock does not match your needs perfectly, then it may not be a great fit for you. Still decent to good, but not necessarily optimal. As long as you understand exactly all the things it brings to the table, and they align with your needs, we would strongly suggest taking a long hard look at this bad boy. It can indeed make a great case for being your next purchase… seemingly high asking price or not

Let me see what I can find! Cheers.
  11. I am looking for something 1050ti - 1070 shipped to R6M1V9. Phill
  12. It will not appeal to everyone, but it is a good ‘no frills’ option for those who need 1TB or less of external storage that will not break your budget. As long as you understand these limitations and fit inside its design envelope it might worth your time and money tracking down this 1TB variant. For everyone else, Seagate 2.5” HDD based Backup Plus, Lacie’s 3.5” HDD based ‘Big’ series, or Seagate’s mega capacity options that can net good performance via sheer brute force may be a better match for your needs.
  13. So, if you are a responsible for a Small or even a Medium(ish) sized Business yet cannot justify the cost of the uber EXOS series, and do not care about a write-back instead of write-through cache policy, this IronWolf Pro 16TB is meant for you. Pull the trigger on that buy order and be done with it. Being able to stuff 24 drives (for a whopping 384TB of raw capacity) in a single 4U network storage device and not have to worry about them shaking themselves to death is a great feeling. Being able to do that and not have to spend EXOS levels of money… well that is an even better feeling. If you
  14. 14TB for $330.99, some reports of Exos drives. Am I deluded waiting for $20/TB? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B088S5S9NC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00

    Hey Davide! and everyone

    Quiet?

One of our partners for the site has decided to retire. I'm in the process of taking over the main tasks for RHR. I must admit that forum is a bit dead but were planing to push it more on YouTube in the upcoming months. Our discord chat is always full of activity. You can join there in the meantime while we iron things out.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Canada Day, and that the weather is treating you well wherever you are at. The site has gone so quiet....
  22. Same internal drive is back (should still be a 10TB BarraCuda Pro ST10000DM0004 inside) as the Seagate Backup Plus at $230.19 + taxes until July 2, 2020 https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/seagate-backup-plus-10tb-desktop-external-hard-drive-stel10000400-black/12315363
  23. Just an update. My son purchased this monitor to compliment the computer he built. We know this is not an "A" list monitor but he does not want to (me as well) spend twice as much on the best ones. I will say that when he plays DCS, the 1070ti that is in there now struggles at 3440x1440. He purchased a 1070 from John and it arrived the other day. We will have to install it and see how it does. DCS is a money hole IMO! Free to play but costs a lot to run!
  24. They need to do back into the computer they came from. My son was super excited to get it built and so I borrowed the PSU and GPU from another computer. Once the 1070 and PSU come from John then we will be able to officially finish the build.
  25. Looking good! Whats was he plan for the temporary parts?
  26. It is dark in his room but here it is. It consists of: ASRock B450M PRO4 R5 3600 32GB of Gskill Ripjawz 3600mhz CL16 NZXT H510i Corsair A50 WD SN750 1TB Black EVGA 1000W (Temporarily borrowed from another computer) 1070ti Black (Temporarily borrowed from another computer) 2X Fractal 140mm front intake fans My son and I assembled his grad gift computer and he likes it a lot. A special thank you to John for helping me find the parts needed to complete this build!
  27. Seems like great choices. Sn750 is even better...just costs more.
  28. Thanks for the feedback Bond007! How would the 1TB SN750 compare? That is the one we ordered. I did not read your post till after we ordered. We got the SN750 for 199.99 so it was not too much more money It is sad to hear that B550 will cost more. I agree, I wanted to wait but he would like his puter now hahaha. Concerning RAM we went with this. I know it is not Sammy b die but it will have to do. Also it was on sale. He is considering a monitor, thinking about these two: MSI 34" 3440x1440 100hz LG 32" 2560x1440 144hz What do you think??
  29. Seems like a great parts list. A quality PSU and a used rx580 or gtx 1070, and you are set. Lots of parts have been steadily increasing in cost. Make sure to get 3200-3600mhz ram. For the motherboard I would personally wait to see how b550 motherboards are cost wise after release (so close now). But otherwise the b450 of your choice is fine. For the SSD, the best bang for buck (IMO) is the sn550. I would try to squeeze a 1TB in if you can, since it should be enough to not have to deal with a secondary drive unless there is mass storage, or all games left installed. They are
