Recently a admin on here reached out to me that his friend whom is borrowing a rig from me as he cannot afford a new one is having issues with the tower (this tower is old.. like phenom 9550 old)

So I decided last night to go through my junk piles and see if I could get him a working rig.

3 Dead towers I have are as follows
Cool Corsair case 775 rig
4GB DDR2
Quadro FX 1800
E8400 Core2duo
3 60GB SSD's that are old as #$%^
Random ass PSU
Custom cooler

Rig 2
Dell Opti-perplexed dead psu and hdd rig
Dell 390 1155 motherboard
4gb ram
6450 gpu
dead psu
dead 500GB HDD
Stock coolers
i3 2120 3.3Ghz

Rig 3
The Trashbin (PSU nuked this rig)
dead amd am3 mobo
1055t
8gb 2gbx4 ddr3
500GB hdd
HD6950 2GB DDR5
Dead psu

So the Trash rig was pulled apart before this as the case was nasty so I threw it out.

Above is the dell and 775 with the nicer case before fun time.

So a reviewer here recently tried pulling apart a 390 to use in another case and had nothing but problems so I learned from his failures and started my modding

first I pulled apart the 2 rigs

Now dell are douches and don't know how to use standard plugs so first mod will be getting the dell front io onto the Corsair case

Now the Dell front io that needs to be moved

Being very similar I was happy to see both were easy to take apart

Time to make the power button and led fit

Fitting some what well time for glue

Art's and crafts time with the glue gun

Need to do a little sanding and cleaning around the audio ports but looks good and lights up right to. all ports work and even the power button lights up great.

Board fits well and all cords reachโ€ฆ just reach ๐Ÿ˜›

Dropping in the 6950 tonight I will change the compound on the gpu first before benchmarking haha

All prepped to go and she started up issue free with a working hdd no errors.

Specs of completed rig.
Corsair case
i3 2120 3.3ghz 2 core 4 threads
6GB - 2GB 1333 and 4gb 1333
500GB Seagate drive (temp for testing new owner has a 120gb ssd and 1tb hdd)
Optiplex 390 LGA 1155 Motherboard
Sapphire HD6950 2GB DDR5
Random ass PSU 500 watt
Windows 10 pro for testing

Total cost of build: $5 for some MX4 compound

So who wants me to make a video on this rig and see if it can handle new gaming?

Thanks for stopping by

Nicely done. Assuming the psu doesn't take something out that rig should have some decent life left.

Nice job, looks like it was a fun project to boot! Should definitely try some bench marking to see what you can get out of it! Cheaper then the morning coffee run.

Yah in the end it even got upgraded further

The 6950 was DOA it would post but any load it would short out.

Upgraded to a 7970 that RX00 had that was giving him issues checked the compound was a issue as there was a blank spot on the die and think that caused the shut downs but stress testing it did awesome.

I'll post a completed picture later

Looks good, you should do a video on all PC builds you do.

Thanks and been thinking of doing the same ๐Ÿ™‚
