Project my sons first gaming rig

Well over the last week I have been parting together a nice little rig for my son but the issue is we do not have much space for it.

So I grabbed one of the dell 390's (I have a pallet worth of them think it's 15 all free that were getting tossed.

Specs at stock
i3 2100
2gb ddr3
no hdd
no gpu
dvd drive
broken side pannel

Work that has been done
i3 3220
8GB ddr3
256GB Msata ssd (sorry Supa this is why I could not give you it :P)
GTX 750 ti
thinking of no DVD drive and watercooling
Plexi side pannel needs much more work but getting there

need to sand that plexi more but the mounts should work I made and not look half bad

Going to cover the cables with a plexi cover that is a bent L and plasticoat it but etch out his name and light that up with blue LED's

It wont win any speed records but a video on it will get going live when done

hope you enjoy and any comments or recommendations throw them in here

Also will paint the whole case when I am done something flashy kids like flashy

should be a great kids PC. Watercooling?!? That seems a bit unnecessary for a build like that, but I am positive any kid would love bold colours and lights. Keep us posted!

main reason for watercooling is for it to look good and to get rid of all my extra fittings and hoses haha

A bit more work to do tonight but here is what has been done last night,

Fully took it apart, The fork was to remove a spring and it worked great shut up Kyle! πŸ˜›

SHES NAKED!!!!

Painting time,

Paint is done and putting it all back together, was going to

Was going to paint the psu but then I remembered… I do not want to πŸ˜›

Put together

Sanding still needed on the side panel

Time to update the Cooler do not like the stock one.

Paint did not turn out half bad and the rig needs bright lights and what not for speed you know.

Last night installed windows 10 on it, had space for a extra hdd so it got a ssd and 500gb and kept the worthless dvd drive

Tonight blue LED's, Upgraded cooling also found a better CPU πŸ˜„ then install games and bench this bad boy

It's looking good. What is the plan to deal with the dust that will sneak in from the gap between the plexiglass and the case itself? Just blow it out with compressed air every so many weeks/months?

Honestly never had a dust issue, even my main rig rarely has the side case on my 2 open air towers are clean as fudge to πŸ˜›

Maybe your just a dirty person haha jk

I think he will be fine the tower will be on top of the kids shared desk. Next build will be a gaming rig for my daughter to πŸ™‚

Looking good. What wattage psu is in that?

Only 275 watt Gold
Was worried but at my work they run the similar rigs with 750 ti's and i7 2600's without issues

Rig did not turn out half bad due to board limitations I was not able to upgrade the CPU

Was amazed at the results I got when gaming on it and I will have a video for that later this week

it's now as done as it will ever be, some mods here and there as time goes on but happy with the end result other than the fact I need to clean the edges of the plexi on my table saw this summer.

Next custom build will be extreme and a two for one special, if they turn out good enough RHR might have something very custom show up in our store πŸ™‚
