Asus ROG Strix Scar Edition - Almost Epic! – 08:31
— Real Hardware Reviews

The Asus ROG Strix GL703V Scar Edition is a great all-around system with a few minor issues to us but major to others.
Amazing Screen, fast cpu, gpu and ssd but loud fans and thermal throttling maybe an issue to some.

The 120Hz screen makes for epic gameplay and limited to nonexistent stutter, as well as a blazing fast SSD meaning you will be in the game within seconds of hitting the power button.

Key Features are:
-7th-generation Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ quad-core 2.8GHz (Turbo to 3.8GHz) with discrete GeForce® GTX™ 1060 6GB graphics. Dual-fan thermal design.
-Slim 0.9” profile and lightweight 6.45 lbs body with 17.3” Full HD Wideview Panel, 72% NTSC.
-256GB SATA SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HDD for an ideal balance of fastest OS-drive speeds and large storage space
-Aura RGB lighting keyboard with 4 isolated hotkeys, 1.8mm key travel, and anti-ghosting technology. 4 zones of lighting control. 20-million keystroke durability.
-802.11ac 2x2 WiFi (up to 6x faster than traditional BGN); Bluetooth 4.1, 3x USB 3.0, 1x USB 3.1 (Type C), 1x USB 2.0, 1x HDMI, 1x Mini DisplayPort, 1x headphone/Mic jack, and 1x RJ45 LAN port

Though it may not be running the new 8th gen CPU it powers through almost anything you throw at it on max settings. Games like the Witcher 3 and other more demanding games will still run very fluidly with medium to high settings. making this a great option for gamers on the go.

All tests were done with newest Geforce drivers, windows fully up to date and all bios/application updates completed.

Taking a closer look at the Asus Rog Strix GL703V we see it has a stunning RGB keyboard

A decent but not perfect keyboard layout but with that a must have mic mute button that all keyboards should have

Sexy ROG logo lit with a nice reddish orange backlight

Enough ports to keep almost any gamer happy

Thinner than a standard stick of ram

Other than a crap AV not a ton of Bloatware

Though it packs a punch it does get hot and loud and with only pushing the CPU throttling is expected with Vsync off

Though the intense SSD and not half bad hard drive speeds make up for a lot of this

With that short overview and the video itself, I can confidently say the Scar edition of the Asus ROG Strix GL703V is a good laptop for a gamer on the go who wants a 17" screen but not a massive backbreaker or wallet destroyer but it has its issues that cannot be overlooked. Though this may sound like hate it is stating fact and due to this fact, it sounds like Asus has corrected many of these complaints with the Scar II and Strix II edition laptops.

Maybe not epic but a win never the less.
