LP's Downsize and Upgrade

The itch has been scratched. Parts have been ordered. Its happening!

For now, I leave you with some teasing. Full part list will follow soon, but I will be reusing most of my current stuff. No 6 core, quad GPU action here sadly!

I have seen that Fan before and thats not a LPfan pun I mean the ASUS FAN!!!

hope she treats you well

Here's to hoping! If it's DOA, I WILL FIND YOU.

For now, the massive pile of thermal crap has been polished off. Next comes some adequate cooling.

If its DOA then you broke it πŸ˜› was using it last week before you bought it πŸ˜›

Looks amazing. 8 + 6 pins? What kind of monster you are having, LPfan4ever? πŸ™‚

Watercooling it? Well, silence is golden πŸ˜‰ How she run now…?

Where's the part list ? It's been 11 days!!!

I ragequit when I tried shoving my AX360 into the H440, fucking thing would not fit ANYWHERE. I gave up and returned it. Due to the Cosmos not having a window I skipped my original plan of using purple dye in the distilled to make up for the lack of purple tubing. ANYWAYS, parts list is as follows:

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II  😠
CPU: 3770k @ 4.5GHz
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu Black Series (2x 8GB)
PSU: Kingwin Lazer 1000W (4 years old and still goin strong)
GPU: Asus R9 290X <- Boner material right there.
Sound Card: Auzentech Forte
Optical Drive: Hah, this isn't 1998.

2x Corsair Force GS 240GB in RAID0
Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120GB for Photoshop and Lightroom
2x Hitachi 5k3000 2TB
Seagate LP 2TB (Backup)

Water stuff:
CPU Block: EK Supreme HF Full Nickel
GPU Block: XSPC Razor R9 290/290X with matching backplate
Radiator: XSPC AX360 Black (3x 1850RPM Gentle Typhoons)
Pump: MCP355 w/ EK res top (Before they stuck the stupid circles all over everything)
Fittings: Bitspower matte black 7/16ID 5/8OD
Tubing: XSPC high-flex tube - white

I'll get some full rig pictures soon. For now this will have to do (with a bit of review material teasingΒ  πŸ˜‰ 😞

Lp is a quitter that must be why my dog tries to hump him :p.

Hope my loaner laptop is powering you through games

wow lp really late on posting those pics eh lol

No kidding. I gave up on it since I completely failed at doing everything I had wanted to. Next build will be proper. This one was crap and was thrown together just well enough to work. Didn't help that the PSU and my pump died in the meantime.

Man he's getting lazier then Supa these days!

And just as ghetto. I lived in bowness where he is to, shocked he has not been mugged πŸ˜›

Pfft. You buy me a new rig and see how fast it gets put together, and how many pictures you get. This old rig is hitting 2.5 years old for the mobo/CPU/RAM. Hard to careΒ  πŸ˜›

I hear this rig got a major upgrade pic or I take back said upgrade πŸ˜›

So it's been through another iteration, adding hard tube and much frustration. I used to have purple dye but decided the hassle wasn't worth it. The parts list currently is:
Motherboard - Asus Maximus Gene VIII
Processor - i7 6700k w/EK Supreme HF Full Nickel
Memory - 16GB G.Skill Trident Z 3400MHz
Video Card - EVGA GTX1070 w/ Heatkiller Acetal Block
Storage - OCZ Trion 150 960GB - OS
2x Corsair Force GS 240GB RAID0 - Games Drive
Case - Fractal Design Arc Mini R2
Power Supply - Corsair AX860i
Monitor - Alienware AW3418DW

damn man the rig looks great, thanks for posting.

whats the temps like?

With the Gentle Typhoons running at 7V, idle is only averaging about 6C above ambient. (26C CPU, 28C GPU) Full load on CPU and GPU is topping out at 64C and 46C respectively. GPU is first in the loop so that explains a bit of the higher CPU temps. If I crank them to 12V it's only a couple of degrees so I'd rather have the noise reduction of 7V.

I decided that the 27" was just not working for me, plus the 1070 is already struggling with just the 3440x1440 resolution, so I pulled it and my monitor arm.
