Recently I got a dslr for free. It would not power on (eos t4i) I took it apart could not find any physical damage.
I saw canon had a decent online support. Emailed in and even though I was not the original owner they offered a $145 repair or replacement if I shipped it in.
So that's just what I did. Taxes and shipping $166.
I tracked and saw they got it two weeks ago. Waited 1 week and called as online it said "not recieved" the girl on the phone took the time and hunted it down herself. She escalated the repair and yesterday they said the problem was with the main board. Today they replaced pretty much the entire camera and did a massive cleaning, new mirrors and new body. They shipped at lunch and setup puro next day 9 am. Puro called and confirmed that I would have my package around 9 tomorrow :).
Great outcome but here's where the worse part comes in. If I had not called the girl made it clear that my shipment was near the recycling bin and would of been recycled.
All and all could of been worse could of been better but I am very happy with the outcome.
