The Bad Luck Rant

Recommended Posts

I've never been truly the most lucky person in the world to begin with, but I have made it by for the most part. However as of late I seem to be hit with quite possibly the worst luck for things breaking on me and costs going through the roof in my life. And its just starting to bug me now.

Car - Harmonic Balancer - $900 all in, 3 Coil packs (all at the rear of the engine) - $770 (Labor and all since they had to take apart most of the top of the engine) - Catalytic converter (Because of bad ignition it was plugged) - $1250

This wasn't over the course of a year but just a few months.

Computer:

3 x Z87 Stinger boards ($30 each time I Had to RMA), and one I made a mistake and it cost me $80.1 x 750TI GPU ($30)1 x Slim Load DVD Drive for Hadron Air1 x Logitech Proteus Mouse1 x LG Flatron E2200 Series Monitor (Out of warranty, its dead without replacement)1 x EVGA 660 FTW Edition Card1 x Coolermaster Mouse1 x Kingston 120GB SSD (I at least have a bigger SSD on my CHristmas list to family)1 x Intel 4130 CPU (DOA out of Box :( )1 x Set of Corsair 4GB RAM

Medical

1 x TUMT treatment - Not covered by Ohip - $3750 coming in JanVarious Expenses not covered by Ohip totalling $2500.

It has been the very piss poor last 3 months , and I'm just ranting and getting it off my chest. The only thing that keeps me from going nuts isat the end of the day its just 1st world problems. More people have it so much worse than me so I try not to feel bad about it all. Just frustrated that it as of right now, hasn't ended.

In the name of your Christian god! That's is insane buddy. The car looks like just the tip of the iceberg.

The medical stuff sadly can't help with but the computer stuff is another story.

I do though still think something odd is going on with power there. Some how some way it has to be something power wise. Personal rmas I have had maybe 5 my whole life and lots of my hardware I know I won't sell I am very hard on.

Hope the luck turns around there buddy.

@StaticFX:

:o wow Usually things happen badly in threes.. but for you its x20. So sorry for your bad luck!

What car is it that cost you 1250 for a cad??? and 900 for the balancer? wow

07 Magentis. I put 1250 for the Cat because like all exhaust thats many years old its never just that one piece that needs replacing once they start dismantling it.And when Cat's are integrated with manifolds, it just makes it more fun. O2 Sensor's are inclusive with that work too because they were fouled.

The Balancer had to come from Korea because at the time all of KIA NA had 0 in inventory, since it 'never' fails. Thats my luck though, car will break something that never breaks for anyone else.Coil Packs because they were against the Firewall, and as a result they had to remove most of the top of the engine to get to them as the intake Plenums were on top of it all.

Fun times lol,

    • Rest assured that no matter if you choose a mainstream Core i5, a high-end Core i7, or the enthusiast Core i9 that you will be getting a very good to excellent processor. All three offer a lot of performance without all that much upfront cost. It just is those who want to get the best, most optimal, option for their needs should put more time, thought, and effort into their decision. So do your homework. Think about what you actually do with your system. Then come to your own conclusions. Not what anyone, including us, tell you what you should be buying. Doing otherwise may result in a rather major disservice to yourself and your next system.   Read the full review below: https://www.realhardwarereviews.com/intel-core-i7-10700k-core-i5-10600k-review/
    • In summary, if you are looking for a good deal, do not need it to be ‘the fastest’ PCIe 3.0 drive going, and do not plan on hammering it with more than 50% of the free capacity at one time, the Silicon Power UD70 2TB is a good option at a great price. Just understand the target demographics it was built for and the compromises required to hit its low asking price before you track one down.   Read the full review below:  https://www.realhardwarereviews.com/silicon-power-ud70-2tb-review/

    • Thank you! I'm looking through that thread now. It looks like I'll be dropping by Best Buy on my way home tonight to have a look at what they have! They have 10TBs in stock, so maybe I'll grab a couple!
