I finally got some decent internet and would love to venture into the world of twitch streaming and YouTube videos.

Does anyone have any tips tricks or otherwise help for a n00b?

If your just starting basic apps like xsplit are ok I prefer obs myself. Always use catchy stream and video names and above all else have fun. Talk lots and over animate yourself.
Also if you can get a few friends to stream at the same time it will up your hits as you all bs back and forth

@Soullessone21:

Talk lots and over animate yourself.

Remember that there is a sweet spot! Some of us really really really hate most youtube personalities for being too animated and over the top excited. It just turns into a mush of fakey flailing with dumb uninteresting dialog.
However I do recognize that just starting out, the minimum recommended flailing and jabbering might feel extreme in comparison to daily life. 😛 So yes, over animate yourself!

IMO the long term goal would be developing a well spoken and sharp witted personality. At that point you do not need to rely upon silly facial expressions and empty chatter to draw people in.
Gotta work up to it, not going to happen over night.
On the other hand I am not average-joe, so pandering to my ideals is not going to get you far with real people.

TL:DR
Try to avoid being an airhead, otherwise your victory might be hollow.  ::)

Thanks guys I def will I'm using obs I'm unsure if I should try to use YouTube and raise up with the gaming streaming or try and build an audience with twitch and go from there

Can't you do both?

i suppose i could would just have to switch back and forth a few things but i def. could

I imagine you'd need to have quite the upload speed to be able to do both, and well Youtube's Gaming seems to be a lot more messed up then Twitch. The one time I streamed I got 3-4 automated e-mails from Youtube saying I couldn't monetize on it due to copyrighted music. It was the game's own registered/unique music that was playing FFS,  I wasn't listening to winamp.

yea i mean my upload speed is fairly fast but i don't think i'd ever attempt to do both at once lol.
