I can't believe how amazing the pc community is!
Up until about June this year I was completely content with my Xbox 360. I would consider myself fairly techy and am IT support for family friends and partly for school, so I knew about the advantages of PC but was happy enough playing on low fps not having a clue what resolution the Xbox was nerfed down to. Will probably get downvoted for this part but to be honest I would have considered PC gamers to be elitists. Then I went to a friend’s house and saw his rig and played a few games on it and was completely transformed. I’d seen PC games before but not in the same way if you know what I mean and wanted one straight away! Being 16, I hardly have any money and I expected to be waiting until January and get a gpu for a Christmas and birthday present. So I waited (somewhat!) patiently and watched reviews and stuff online watching games the way they were meant to be played. But apparently a fellow PCMR user /u/Soullessone21 wasn’t happy with this!
Upon finding that I was using an ati x1300/1550 (entry level card from about 7-8 years ago) to game on my pc (mainly cod mw1 at low settings), /u/Soullessone21 said: I cannot have a fellow PCMR member with such old graphics PM me I might have something to help you out
I was shocked to be honest. I was used to the console ‘community’ of “noob headshot dropshot no scope blah blah blah”, but without even being a fully ascended member of the community, he offered me a gtx 750 ti oc, which was even better than the card I was hoping to get (r7 260x). I mean I knew the pc community was good in terms of helping fix other users problems and making mods and that sort of stuff but never was I expecting this.
And yet, /u/Soullessone21 apparently still wasn’t happy. Even after that, he “threw in more gifts as well :)” He ended up giving me three amazing games (Arkham Knight, Witcher 3 and FarCry 4) aswell as a gaming t-shirt and toy I feel like I should mention that he also tried to get me more ram (even though I told him I had enough!!) and an SSD (5400rpm masterrace!) but the way things worked out and with a problem with a review PC he couldn’t, but even the fact that he thought about it is amazing. I can't thank /u/Soullessone21 enough; because of him I was able to ascend :). I told him just after the initial offer that if postage costs were high please leave it, I didn’t want to put him out of pocket, but apparently that fell on deaf ears!
I’d already built the computer in latish 2014 and got 6gb ram and a bloomfield (original i7) era xeon from my sysadmin uncle which are both amazing and a huge upgrade from what I believe was 1gb of ram and a single core dell that I had until then. So the bottleneck the original card had been insane! I stuck in the graphics card and wow! I had seen the specs for this thing ages ago since I like to keep up to date on tech stuff and when he said he was giving it to me I looked up reviews and stuff but wow! Ascension isn’t even the word! Next on the agenda has to be the keyboard and mouse. Gaming stuff is SO expensive though!
/u/Soullessone21 really shows off pcmr and the pc community in general. He could have easily sold off the gpu but no!
His wife has also had pretty intensive surgery recently and is still recovering, so could we all wish her a quick recovery also. Glad to hear it went well!
Lastly if you’ve read this far thanks! I can’t wait to try out the games he gifted me, but think I should ask anway, what games (preferably cheap) would you guys recommend? I like fifa and shooters and adventure games, oh and I would love to try out a nice racing game actually.

TL;DR: PCs are amazing, PC gaming is amazing, /u/Soullessone21 is amazing
