How good is Biostar as a brand? Do they make solid parts like Asus and MSI?

Over the last few years Biostar and asrock have both stepped it up a lot in quality. I have had a few of their boards with no issue and I think madshrimp does some reviews of their products that are really well done.

Biostar has one of those up and down companies. Back in the P45 days they made one of the best overclocking boards and were sought after.

That was a damn sweet board, their new embeded cpu/board combos are actually damn good to, had a few projects using them and have always been impressed with the quality and low price

BioStar was one of the best in the old days for sure. Problem I find with CA in particular is finding their boards from vendors.
Much like Foxconn they went quietly into the backlight from the primary E-Tailers we are used to buying from.
